Speculations about Grand Theft Auto VI being the most expensive game ever developed are rife, especially with its potential release date speculated to be next year. Its extended development period, large development teams, and anticipated high production values fuel these rumors. 

According to Niche Gamer, the development costs could exceed $2 billion, resulting in an unprecedented price tag of $150 for the game. The current generation of gamers, already disgruntled by the escalating costs of video games, may not take this news well if indeed true. 

Despite these rumors, we remain skeptical about the price and classify it as "highly unlikely", given that it contradicts basic economic principles. Lower sales figures would be counterproductive for Rockstar, who rely heavily on a high volume of players for their multiplayer game's profitability through microtransactions. While we aren't entirely dismissing the possibility of a price increase given the significant development costs and the game's popularity, we find the rumored price tag questionable.
