The well-received tactical battle royale shooter, Call of Duty: Warzone 2, is facing challenges with recent adjustments to weaponry balance, particularly the weakening of the crossbow which now requires precise headshots for effective gameplay. On top of these changes, players are encountering a troubling glitch that severely hampers the use of sniper rifles. Created by Infinity Ward and Raven Software and supported by other studios under the Activision umbrella, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 debuted to largely favorable criticism in 2022. Yet, it's currently experiencing a peculiar technical issue that essentially renders sniping futile.
Redditor Kenja_Time uploaded a video of their experience with the bug on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit: From a vantage point high above Warzone 2's Al Mazrah map, they quickly spot another opponent peeking around a cement wall far below, only for the game to cut to black a moment later, followed by an unhelpful error message. The video then skips ahead to a sniper duel with another player, again only for Warzone 2 to disconnect.
The post received a flurry of comments, many of which suggested that the bug might have something to do with the Al Mazrah map. In response, streamer SoCaLove experienced a similar disconnection when playing the game for his live Twitch stream, although he needed to confirm whether or not the bug was map-specific. As the issue is beginning to impact more players, Activision is likely to take the necessary steps to investigate the matter and identify the source of the bug.
In the meantime, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players who enjoy sniping must make do with the knowledge that their weapons may suddenly become unusable. While it's obvious that the bug's effects are unintentional, it doesn't make the experience any more pleasant. Only when Activision can identify the bug's source and fix the issue will sniping remain a difficult prospect in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
