Split Fiction: Doubling the Ambitions with Enhanced Budget and Fresh Directions from Hazelight

The anticipation surrounding the release of Split Fiction is heightened by its substantial investment compared to its predecessor, It Takes Two. With the remarkable success of It Takes Two, it's logical that the developers at Hazelight were granted more resources to create their next project, Split Fiction. This shift in budget has been hinted at by director Josef Fares in a recent discussion, where he mentioned that the funding for Split Fiction is nearly double that of It Takes Two.

In a conversation with MinnMax, Fares highlighted that in comparison to It Takes Two, Split Fiction boasts a budget that is "almost double." When queried about the allocation of these additional funds, he enthusiastically remarked, “look at the game man, Are you serious? Just take a look at the match!!” signaling the enhancements in the game's quality.

Interestingly, even with the increased financial support, the development timeline didn't experience a significant change; it remained around the same as the previous project. Fares elaborated on this, mentioning that a development stretch of three to four years is considered ideal for achieving their creative vision.

Additonally, during the extensive interview, Fares provided a hint about what lies ahead for Hazelight, noting that the studio might explore avenues beyond cooperative gameplay in future projects. He acknowledged, “Hazelight is cooperative gameplay is integral to our identity, yet the initial title, Brothers, focuses on a single-player experience, and only time will tell what the future holds future what will happen.”

Anticipation is growing among enthusiasts for the launch of Split Fiction, scheduled to be launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 6. Will it meet the standards established by its predecessor?
